We’ve had over 400+ students successfully complete our programs in just the past few months! Some of our students have:

  • Gone on to top colleges, gained substantial scholarships, been accepted to prestigious entrepreneurship programs (Stanford’s Summer Session, Drexel’s LeBow Camp Business), and won over $40k+ in business and pitch competitions!
  • Others have started multiple businesses, even non-profits – one student used her Beta Bowl experience to begin a literacy-related non-profit that’s already donated over 30,000+ books to students in need and gotten 250+ volunteers involved – in just the past six months!
  • One student turned her passion for slime into a 5-revenue-stream, 80% profit margin business and was profitable during the program!
  • Another student used Beta Bowl as inspiration to fuel her science-related pursuits, and was recently featured in Forbes, herself!
  • We’ve also been fortunate enough to hire on three of our former students as interns, who are working on some very cool new products!
  • Some students have even built businesses with a charitable component and to address a newly-emerging need during these challenging and disruptive times in our world – including a mask-decorating subscription kit for immunocompromised children…and the list goes ON!
(Plus, teens will learn the valuable skills to build a business, at a time when entrepreneurship may be the best job security)

  • Weekly online video lessons and accompanying tasks are bite-sized and step-by-step
  • Resources and tutorials to assist in hands-on implementation
  • Students may complete each week’s business-building modules on their own time in between group calls
    • The ENTIRE program can be completed on weekends (or during the week), though students are also welcome to work on each week’s business-building tasks during the week or on any flexible schedule that suits their preference and availability; either way, our team will be there 24-7 to help them along the way!
  • 24-Hour Access to the Beta Bowl team for additional help, feedback, and support during the week, in between the live group calls
    • All students will have 24-hour email and text support from our team, throughout the entire four-week program;
      • Our team’s average response time is two to six hours

Students will spend on average 3.5 hours per week on the program, broken down between 1-hour (up to 90 minute) live group calls and 2 to 2.5 hours of practical application and implementation, and will receive ongoing step-by-step instruction and 1-on-1 guidance, with practical, hands-on implementation and take an idea from inception to ready-to-beta-launch business.

Your teen will come away with:

  • A completed financial model
  • A viable business plan
  • A business-specific marketing strategy
  • An investor pitch deck
  • And a ready-to-beta-launch business, even if they entered the program without an idea for a specific business.
  • Successful Completion Certificate (which can be used in college and internship applications and as proof of supplemental extracurricular involvement)

Not only is the program a great resume booster, but it also equips teens with a host of impressive skills that colleges are seeking.

At the end of the session, students will receive individual written feedback and a score sheet on their final pitch deck. Students will also come away with a Successful Completion Certificate, as proof of their successful participation and completion.

BONUS:
Each student will also receive a 1-on-1 strategy call with a college admissions consultant to help them game-plan how to use their Beta Bowl business (and entrepreneurial experience) to their competitive advantage on their future college applications.
BONUS TWO: Students will be eligible for our virtual mini-pitch competition, in which we provide students with score sheets and feedback on their submitted pitch decks (and optional pitch videos) and award $500 to one student/participant, based on their pitch deck scores/feedback

What Parents Are Saying

Program Highlights

Hands-On Activities: Unlike the classroom learning experience, Beta Bowl is all about implementation and putting what students learn into practice in real life. That’s exactly what students do throughout this entrepreneurial extracurricular program. Each lesson is accompanied by multiple hands-on tasks that take students one step closer to turning their idea into a living, breathing, thriving, and profitable business. These hands-on tasks include real-life idea validation, customer research, building a mockup, functional prototype, or landing page for their business to present to potential customers and investors, building a complete financial model to illustrate the business’s projected revenue and profit, and a professional pitch deck ready for review by real investors. Beta Bowl students don’t just learn about business; they build one themselves.

Startup Mentorship: Teens don’t participate in Beta Bowl’s Winter Entrepreneurship Program alone – in addition to their peers going through the program, they get individual attention, feedback, and guidance from experienced Startup Mentors who have built businesses themselves. The Startup Mentors include full-time entrepreneurs, top business school students, and the Beta Bowl founder. Every day these mentors host group calls to imbue their expertise and assist on your student’s entrepreneurial journey. Additionally, students  get 24-hour email and text support from their startup mentors, so no matter their question or request for feedback or assignment review, teens have an expert mentor at their fingertips, just a call or an email away. Multiple teens who have gone through the Beta Bowl program have touted the 1-on-1 mentorship as the biggest benefit of the program, and they’ve referred to the weekly calls and feedback as “invaluable” and “access to a wealth of knowledge” that leads to both ah-ha moments for their businesses and an augmented learning experience overall.

What You’ll Gain

Financial Literacy: Beta Bowl gets down to the nuts-and-bolts of building a business, and that includes the financial side of things. Students don’t need any prior knowledge coming into the program, but when they leave, they will have a deep understanding of financial projections and building a profitable business on a budget. We teach students the necessary elements of any business, the cost drivers, and their revenue-generating counterparts, and we equip them to put profit at the forefront of their spending. Additionally, we put a great focus on idea validation, concept testing, prototyping, and pre-selling before spending money on tech or manufacturing to ensure that when our students do build businesses in the future, they make sound financial decisions and never “break the bank” before locking in sales. Furthermore, students will come away with an understanding of financial modeling, and they will create a custom financial model that reflects the budget and projections for their Beta Bowl business. These are skills students can use in the real world, whether in a college business class, when planning their own personal investments, or when building a future business.

Business Professionalism and Confidence: Beta Bowl doesn’t just give teens the tools and resources to build a financial model and pitch deck; it also cultivates their professionalism and confidence in their own entrepreneurial abilities along the way. The daily calls are conducted just like startup meetings with entrepreneurs and investors, and teens are encouraged to present their unique viewpoints when discussing tweaks and changes to their businesses. Teens develop the confidence to voice their opinions, make educated suggestions and informed decisions, and present their findings and business-building progress on each group and individual call, as well as in their pitch deck and optional video. Many participants who have completed the program have developed a deeper passion for entrepreneurship, and with the professionalism and confidence they’ve acquired throughout the program, some have gone on to expand their beta businesses, pursue funding, and plan to make a career out of entrepreneurship.

Innovation Potential: Students come into Beta Bowl from diverse backgrounds, with varying levels of experience, and different business ideas. However, regardless of whether they come into the program with 10 ideas or none, they come out with a proven process for finding, testing, and validating their ideas. In fact, most students end up deciding between two or three ideas and planning to revisit the runner-up ideas in the future, when building another business. Entrepreneurship isn’t just a tangible skill set or a formula for profitability; it’s a way of thinking and a creative, but educated approach to planning, evaluating, and launching a business. That’s exactly what students learn and put into practice, and after going through Beta Bowl and developing the analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and business acumen we help instill, they come away with the innovation potential to become serial entrepreneurs, building, launching, and growing successful business after business in the future.

For the first time ever, we're bringing the skill that colleges value most right into teens' living rooms. Even college professors are raving about this program, and it's guaranteed to give students a leg up in many ways...college applications are just one.

"I don't know a parent who wouldn't jump on this for their kid" - Jim Kitchen, a College Business School Professor, Father, Entrepreneur, and Angel Investor

Beta Bowl is NOT your average extracurricular. This program is REAL-WORLD enrichment that teaches teens to understand, evaluate, and build businesses! From analytical thinking to financial modeling, the teens are getting a SOLID business education and highly desirable skill set in these 12 weeks.

"As an entrepreneur who graduated with a business degree, I wish I had been lucky enough to participate in a program like Beta Bowl, which would have given me a real leg up on starting my first business. Kids need this, and the earlier they learn entrepreneurial skills, the better."
- Vikram S., Founder & CEO at PT Wired

"My mom [Former Vice Chancellor of a Top Public University] would 100% have wanted me to do that. I mean, she'd pay more for something like Beta Bowl than for an SAT tutor or college prep counselor."
- Alex M., College Sophomore

"As an athletic coach and a dad, I know how important getting into the right college is. I also know just how valuable business and entrepreneurship skills are to our kids' futures and careers. I'd recommend Beta Bowl to any and all parents out there. "
- Ron U., Father and Former Baseball Coach

"I did a similar program the summer prior to Beta Bowl, and the biggest difference with Beta Bowl is that we get so much more 1-on-1 help on the calls. Also, the college recommendation letter aspect is really cool - the fact that it's personalized to each student's journey is a big plus. Parents don't always realize how important recommendation letters are, but had I known the letters would be customized like that and would highlight my strengths and progress throughout Beta Bowl, I would've definitely taken advantage of this opportunity."
- Raina J., High School Junior and Beta Bowl Student

"The calls are really helpful, especially the 1-on-1 guidance. The group calls are also helpful to get feedback from other peers. I was looking for a program like this, and some of the comparable ones were $8k or more, so Beta Bowl was a no-brainer. "
- Zaid A., High School Sophomore and Beta Bowl Student

"I'm going into music production, but I know a ton of business students who would have LOVED to do that. Also, getting into college is super competitive these days, so I think for the recommendation alone, it would be worth it."
- Natalie S., College Senior

"My ears perked up when I heard the college recommendation. I have a daughter who's a junior in high school, and that's all we're worrying about now. I paid over $10k just to have her go to a summer program for acting so she can get a recommendation from the acting coach. I would have EASILY paid $3k or more for Beta Bowl and the college recommendation letter for her. "
- Jim K., Professor of Entrepreneurship, Father, Entrepreneur, and Angel Investor

"This is the type of program that kids need before they go to college. Not only for the college recommendation - sure, that's a cherry on top, but also building a real business. These are skills kids don't get in school."
- Tina M., Mother of two and Registered Nurse

"I'm not a business major, but the program sounds really cool, and the college recommendation letter alone would get me. We already spend so much time between extracurriculars and applying to scholarships - why not do a program that gets us both and a recommendation letter? Can I do it even though I'm in college now?"
- Talya G., College Freshman

F.A.Q

Beta Bowl's 4-Weekend Virtual Group Entrepreneurship Immersion is an extracurricular program for adolescents and teens who are seeking enrichment and/or have an interest in startups and entrepreneurship. After successfully filling 20+ sessions of group two-week and one-week programs within the last four months (both during the school year and over the summer), we've been inundated with parent requests for alternative program options for students on weekends. Therefore, we are launching a limited-spot, one-time 4-Weekend program, limited to 20 students. Students will have live group calls with a startup mentor on weekends (on Saturdays at 12 pm PT / 1 pm MT / 2 pm CT / 3 pm ET, for one hour). Students will also have 24-hour email and text support to our team throughout the weeks and weekends in between their live group calls for additional assistance and feedback. During the four-weekend virtual entrepreneurship immersion, participating students will have the hands-on experience of taking an idea* from inception to minimum viable product (ready to launch), as well as complete an investor pitch deck and learn every aspect of building, marketing, and pitching a business. *Students do NOT need to come into the program with an idea.

Beta Bowl is both an educational experience and a real-world introduction to building a business. The program covers everything from marketing to branding to business models and startup finance. Participants will be guided through every step of turning their idea into a reality on daily group calls by their 1-on-1 startup mentor. Startup mentors will provide strategic advice, as well as technical alternatives and easy-to-implement resources to enable participants to bring their ideas to life, regardless of the idea's niche or industry. (no additional expenses required)

P.S. Students don't need an idea or product coming into Beta Bowl - they will be coached and given the tools and resources to prepare a sound business idea, service, or product and bring it to fruition. (Idea exploration and validation are a part of module 1 of the Beta Bowl curriculum)

Beta Bowl is founded and run by current entrepreneurs and investors who have real-life experience, building, scaling, and selling companies.

Upon successful completion of the program, all Beta Bowl participants will receive a Successful Completion Certificate and will come away with a full portfolio of their business-building projects, all of which can be a great addition to a resume and college application. Some students have even managed to get high school course credit with the Successful Completion Certificate as proof of their participation. Immersion participants will also be given the opportunity for an optional 1-on-1 strategy call with a college admissions consultant from a top college prep company, who will help them game-plan how to use their individual Beta Bowl business to their best competitive advantage on their future resumes and college applications.

No! Every participant in the Beta Bowl 2-Week Virtual Immersion will be coached and guided every step of the way and given all the necessary tools and resources to turn their idea into a viable ready-to-launch business! There is no advanced math involved, and the simple startup math included in the financial model will be thoroughly explained to all participants. All calculations will be handled in excel. There is also no need for participants to have any advanced technical or coding skills. If they do, that's fine and they can use those in their startup if they choose, but participants will have just as good a chance of success in startups and in Beta Bowl lacking that knowledge.

Success in entrepreneurship is really not about IQ or any specific skill-set taught in schools (like math or science), though those skills CAN influence bright and ambitious entrepreneurs and help them on their journey to success.

Yes - here's how these calls work: After submitting their intake form, participants will be matched up with a startup mentor and given a schedule and milestone tracker (along with their other intake materials). Each day, the students will have calls with their mentor (via phone, Zoom, or Skype) that will move participants forward in turning their idea into an MVP - some days will focus on market research, the financial model, the marketing strategy, the pitch deck, etc. The calls, along with the milestone tracker, keep all participants on track so they come away with their completed MVP, business plan, financial model, marketing strategy, and pitch deck at the end of the immersion.

If a participant wants his or her parents to sit in on the calls (OR if a parent wants to be present for the calls), that is completely fine. If a parent wants to be more involved in their teen's startup, that's great, but throughout the Beta Bowl Virtual Immersion session, we will be sure to equip all participants (the teens) to build and launch their own business. That's the goal. :)

The startup mentors assigned to each Beta Bowl enrollee (or team) are full-time entrepreneurs and/or top business school performers at esteemed universities. Some of our mentors have backgrounds in finance, some have come from accelerators, and some have transitioned from entrepreneur to investor/advisor.

A note to parents (and students): We vet every startup mentor for their academic acuity and personal integrity – mentors include entrepreneurs and current top performers at esteemed business schools.
*Select participants will be mentored by Rachel Greenberg, the Beta Bowl founder & CEO, based on her availability at the student's time of enrollment. Rachel was named one of the Top 10 Entrepreneurs of 2020 in Yahoo Finance - you can read about her here and the work Beta Bowl has done creating over 400+ teen entrepreneurs during the pandemic, in the latter part of 2020, alone.

*On an availability basis, Rachel may also host limited group programs.

What if I want to guarantee Rachel as my student's mentor or get a higher level of ongoing support?
Please send an email to info@beta-bowl.com with the subject line "CONCIERGE" to inquire about options and pricing for concierge mentoring with Rachel Greenberg. We are able to customize the program to best meet you and your teen's needs and requests.

Participants can sign up solo or with friends as a "team" if they'd like to build one startup together. You will each enroll individually, but in your intake form (which you will receive just after enrolling), you will be asked to select "Solo" or "Team" participant, and if you select "Team" will indicate the name and email address of your friend(s) who you would like to work with. Teams of any size can be accommodated, but most successful startups began with founding teams of 5 or fewer members.

As a Beta Bowl enrollee, you will be given all the tools you need to build and launch your MVP. That said, there are always multiple options (paid and unpaid) when it comes to getting a product or website built. IF you choose to spend additional money on bringing your idea to life, that is completely fine and up to you, BUT your startup mentor will always give you FREE alternative tools and resources you can use to accomplish the goals of the program and take your idea from zero to pitch-ready (and market ready).

The only tools students need access to include:

  • A computer with internet (to access video lessons and collaborate)
  • Excel or Numbers (to access and complete the financial model tasks)
  • PPT, Keynote, or similar presentation editing program (pitch deck tasks)
  • Email (and optionally phone OR computer audio chat) for daily startup mentor calls and to receive Beta Bowl communications
Beta Bowl is aimed at adolescents ages 13 through 18. The program is geared towards motivated and gifted adolescents and teens who are driven, ambitious, and have an interest in business, startups, or at the least watching Shark Tank :) (or for those who simply want an impressive and unique extracurricular opportunity to stand out from the crowd in the competitive college application process)
*If you are interested in registering a gifted or motivated younger student (between 11 and 12), please reach out via email to info@beta-bowl.com and we can accept and accommodate them on a case-by-case basis.

A Note From Our Founder

Hi, I’m Rachel Greenberg – a Wall Street investment banker turned full-time entrepreneur and startup consultant. I’ve been working with startups for the past decade, and I’ve helped create and implement marketing strategies, investor pitch decks, and rebranding campaigns that have collectively reached millions of customers, earned millions+ in funding, and generated tens of millions of dollars in revenue. (A few of them got acquired for 7 and 8 figure valuations in the past few years, and one got a deal on Shark Tank, and a couple have been featured in the Oprah Magazine!)

My story in a nutshell:

  • » Named one of the Top 10 Entrepreneurs of 2020 in Yahoo Finance (here)
  • » Business degree in finance + entrepreneurship from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School
  • » Began my career at JP Morgan, Piper Jaffray, & Wells Fargo (asset management and M&A investment banking)
  • » Co-founded a college-geared company that exited in 2016

Learning from Feedback

After hosting Beta Bowl focus groups with live sessions for students all over the country and running the program by university business majors and professors, I got 2 pieces of feedback.

1) The current business students WISHED they had this program back when they were in high school, and

2) this is a program that would look great and be a huge differentiator for candidates on college applications and resumes.

Results - A Robust, Hands-on Program

We took that feedback, along with the suggestions from our focus group students, and created a program that gives students a robust, hands-on learning (and DOING) experience, gives them an IMPRESSIVE differentiator to include on their resumes and college applications, and gives them a unique custom recommendation letter that sets them apart and highlights their particular growth, progress, and achievement building their own business in the Beta Bowl program.

I've founded and continue to run a handful of businesses day-to-day, but Beta Bowl is one I'm most proud of, as I believe we have the potential to make the largest impact on the entire generation of future entrepreneurs, business people, leaders, and change-makers. This program is for EVERYONE, and I can't wait to get it into the hands of as many motivated teens as possible."

Feedback from a few other students on their Beta Bowl experience

It exceeded my expectations. I went into this program thinking it would just be a typical online class, but it is so interactive, and gives room for creativity and out of the box thinking.

Nishanth K., MD, Above 12th Grade

This program provides a great hands-on approach to the most important aspects of building a successful business.

Jessica T., CA, 12th Grade

Amelia W., OR, 10th Grade

It gives you everything but the real world experience, it's amazing.

Alex M., CA, 10th Grade

The course was definitely more in depth than I initially thought it would be. I would recommend beta bowl, but only to any over achiever friends. This is definitely a in depth course and completely sets you up to launch a company or sets you up with enough knowledge to start a company in the future.

Annabelle W., KY, 11th Grade

It was so much greater and put together than I had expected. I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to all of my friends for future programs. It is a great learning experience for students who are looking into studying business and even more specifically, entrepreneurial studies to see if it is fit for them!

Lauren M., WA, 12th Grade

Beta bowl definitely met my expectations, and it was more thorough than I expected which is great, and I would also recommend it. The two week Beta Bowl program was educational and fun, and the daily calls were informative and open-ended. The program made it simple to build your company with step by step instructions which allowed you to take any business direction.

Eric B., TX, 12th Grade

The experience was definitely a lot more helpful than I expected it to be. At first, I didn't know what to expect, but I definitely got a lot out of it. I would say the course is definitely worth it and it really helped to drive my passion in business.

Shaan D., TX, 12th Grade

Exactly what I expected- it was great! I definitely enjoyed and I would highly recommend to others. It's a great way to start your own successful business!

Shira C., NY, 10th Grade

The experience was much better than my expectations going in. I thought it would be more lectures, and less actual work to do alone. I enjoyed that i got to hear the "lectures" and then incorporate the skills learned on the worksheets, and to launching my own business. I loved it and would recommend to my peers. Beta bowl teaches life skills that are useful in the real world, that school would never teach. It teaches you how to think for yourself, be resourceful, and that there isn't one correct answer to something, like how it is in school.

Chloe L., NY, 9th Grade

It is a fun educational program that lets you make your idea into a reality, and I would recommend it to others.

Will M., NY, 9th Grade

I learned a lot more than I thought I was and came out of Beta Bowl with a full financial/business model that started with an idea. What surprised me was how self-paced the program was and how I was challenged by figuring out certain problems and questions by myself. I thoroughly enjoyed the Beta Bowl program and would recommend it. It was a great learning experience, especially for someone who is interested in business. Throughout Beta Bowl, I learned how to turn my idea into a reality. I came into the class with a few ideas and left ready to launch a business in just weeks.

Surina A., MN, 12th Grade

I thought this was just some summer camp, but it is a lot more than that. It’s a great course with lots of good information to know even if you are not starting a business.

Soahum S., GA, 11th Grade

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I learned a lot every week and would definitely recommend the course to anyone because it really doesn't matter what experience level you are at, there is always something to work on and there is a lot of material to learn from. I feel like anyone can really make the experience their own, so it is great for anyone. This is a perfect program for anyone because it is a valuable experience no matter what experience level you have. There is always something to learn about and you can pick your own journey.

Divij K., MA, 12th Grade

I found it very interesting and relevant, and it was a great tool to get my business started. I would recommend it to other entrepreneurs looking to start their own businesses. Beta Bowl is an interesting immersive business building program that can teach you the things that you need to know about running a business in this current time.

Andrew B., FL, 9th Grade

I'm so glad I decided to give Beta Bowl a chance and use this as experience to see if business is a field I would be interested in pursuing further in college. After completing this course, I have realized how much these types of topics interest me, and it is almost as if these topics come naturally to me. I was able to discover that starting a business isn't rocket science. Anyone who has done plenty of planning and preparation can start a successful business no matter their age or background.
